When Strife: Quest for the Sigil was released in 1996, it was a rare gem in the first-person shooter genre, blending the fast-paced action of FPS games like Doom and Quake with the immersive world-building, dialogue, and quest-driven narrative typical of RPGs. It stood out as one of the first games to offer such a unique fusion of gameplay elements, and while it was overshadowed by the likes of Doom and Quake, it has since gained a cult following for its innovative mechanics and storytelling.

Set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world, Strife thrusts players into a narrative-driven adventure where they must take on the role of a soldier fighting to overthrow a mysterious, tyrannical force known as the Order. What sets Strife apart from other shooters of the time is the freedom it offers in how players approach its world.
